Who We Are

Katharine Burke, Founder Katharine Burke, MEd, is an educator, facilitator and workshop leader with more than 30 years’ experience teaching and designing and leading courses for young people and adults. She has taught at all grade levels for over 30 years and has over 20 years experience in teacher training and curriculum development. In Norway, she has led workshops in sustainable development through ecoliteracy for Montessori schools and at the Montessori Annual Teachers Conference, has led deep time walks for individuals and for the Steiner University College, and has set up and participated in leading longer retreats at The Small Earth Institute.  Katharine has a Masters of Education in Ecology, Nature and Sustainabilty.  In addition she is a facilitator of Joanna Macey’s Work That Reconnects and a Regenerative Design Practitioner trained by the Regenesis Group.

Martin Lee Mueller , Co-Founder Martin Martin Lee Mueller, PhD, received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oslo in 2016 and his master’s degree in culture, environment and sustainability at the University of Oslo’s Center for Development and the Environment (SUM).  He is the author of the award-winning book ‘Being Salmon, Being Human: Encountering The Wild in Us and Us in the Wild‘. He has previously helped build teaching centers in rual Mongolia, worked as a kindergarten teacher, been an elementary school librarian, and led a wilderness school in the Norwegian forest. Recently he has also been touring as a storyteller to festvals in the UK, Canada, the US and Scandinavia with a stage performance inspired by his book. He is currently working with SEAS – “Science Education for Action and Engagement toward Sustainability (http://www.seas.uio.no), a EU-funded initiative, based at the Institute for Teacher Education and School Research (ILS) at the University of Oslo.
